Warrior Boys Tennis Loss to North Springs Ends Season

OCHS record 20 win season ends in second round of state playoffs.

The seventh ranked 's Warrior boys tennis team had their season come to an end at home Tuesday with a disappointing 3-1 loss to a very talented North Springs Spartan team, in the second round of the state AAA playoffs. Zach Miner and Drew Horsely picked up the lone win for the Warriors at number one doubles with a 6-4, 6-2 win over brothers Jordan and Lloyd George.

The season ending loss was a tough one for Dan Gruetter's Warrior team, which finished 20-3. However, when the dust settled, the 2012 season left the team with several significant accomplishments.

First, the Warrior netters generated a record 20 win season, something that for conversation-sake anyway, appears to be tops in Georgia in 2012, at least at this point.

The 2012 team also redeemed themselves in region as they brought the 8-AAA region championship back home to OCHS, after a year's absence. Gruetter's men also posted an immaculate 15-0 region record and were successful in defeating their toughest region opponents over the last two years, Gainesville and West Hall, a total of 6 times over the season.

Coach Dan Gruetter's 2012 region champion club was led by seniors Sam Ondo and Conner Smith, junior Will McDonald, sophomores Zach Miner, Dan Madden and Hunter Pritchard, and freshmen Drew Horsely, Mitchell Graves and Chandler Shields, as well as Assistant Coach Matt Grogan.
