Seven OCHS Players Named to All-Region Tennis Team

Victoria Ondo, a senior on the Warrior tennis team leads a group of seven players named this past week to the 8AAA All-Region tennis team. , a senior, was also named Player of the Year for girls in the new 13 team Region 8AAA. She finished the year with a 21-1 record playing at the #1 singles position for OCHS.


Also making the All-Region girls team were freshman Caroline McElhannon (singles), and the tandem of senior Caroline Guest and freshman Katy Kane at doubles. Guest and Kane also posted a 21-1 record for the Lady Warriors at doubles.
 
For the boys, sophomore Will McDonald was named to the All-Region team, posting a 19-3 season record at #1 singles. The duo of junior and freshman Zach Miner also made All-Region in doubles, while going undefeated for the season at #1 doubles.  The voting was done by the region's 13 coaches from region 8AAA. 
 
The Lady Warriors, finished as, winning their region for the 24th time in the last 25 years. They also finished the season in 9th place in the state in the final AAA statewide rankings.  They were 19-3 overall and perfect in region, going 15-0. Their season included key wins over Gainesville (3 times), West Hall (twice) and Chestatee. They also won two out of three matches at the statewide Jekyll Jam tournament in early March.
 
The Warrior boys team ended the season a 16-6 overall record, including second place in region 8AAA and . Key wins during the season included upsets of #3 Carrollton and #5 Gainesville, as well as West Hall in the region semi-finals. In addition, the Warriors got key wins during the season over Columbus, Chestatee and North Oconee.
