OCHS Head Football Coach Olson Steps Down

The coach will continue to teach in the social studies department.

Oconee County High School football coach Mitch Olson has left his position after his team failed to go to the state playoffs for the fifth season in a row.

According to a post on the Oconee County High School Warrior Football Facebook page:Β

Oconee County High School Principal Sheila Beckham announced today that Mitch Olson is stepping down as head football coach for the Warriors. According to Beckham, Coach Olson feels as though it is time to allow someone else to take the lead in the school's football program. He will continue to teach in the Social Studies Department.

"I am grateful to Coach Olson for his dedication to our football program. He has truly made an impact both on the field and in the classroom," said Beckham. "He always strives to make each athlete/student a better person. Thanks to him, the Warrior Creed has become a part of the OC culture. Warriors strive to do their best – All of the time, not some of the time."
