NOHS Downs Morgan County in Tennis

The Titans meet Gwinnett County next Tuesday and Grayson on Thursday.

The tennis team traveled to Madison on Thursday to take on 4-A Morgan County, and it was a good day for the Titans.  The Lady Titans improved to 2-0 on the young season by blanking the Lady Bulldogs 5-0.  Becca Bruning led the charge, winning at #1 singles 6-0, 6-0.  Amber Hudson followed suite at #2 singles by downing her opponent 6-0, 6-3, and freshman Mary Campbell Cobb took #3 singles 6-2, 6-4.  In doubles action, the team of senior Alex Barone and freshman Abbey Bruning prevailed at #1 with a 6-1, 6-2 win.  At #2 doubles Cammi Shafer and Tori Vadeboncoeur outlasted their opponents 6-3, 6-2. 

On the boy's side the Titans evened their record at 1-1 with a 4-1 victory over the Bulldogs.  Peter Bertan claimed a win at #1 by a score of 6-1, 6-0.  At #2 Ray Donovan outlasted his opponent 6-4, 6-1, while senior Seth Taylor earned his first win of the season at #3 6-1, 6-0.  The Titans and Bulldogs split the doubles matches, with Stevie Hemerlein and Jeff Bautista taking #1 doubles 6-2, 6-0.

Up next for the Titans are two tough contests as they travel to Gwinnett County on Tuesday, Feb. 14 to face 5A Mill Creek at 4:30 p.m., then host 5A Grayson on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m.
