Lady Titans Advance to 2nd Round; Season Ends for the Boys

The Lady Titans tennis team will host the winner of the Armuchee-Heard County matchup.

Bogart-- The 15-3 Lady Titans continued their march through the state AA tennis tournament by defeating Greater Atlanta Christian Tuesday at the courts.

Becca Bruning started things off with a 6-0, 6-1 win No. 1 singles, followed by the tandem of Casey Blanton and Kathleen Greenway winning at No. 1 doubles 6-1, 6-3. Clinching the first-round victory for the Region 8AA champs was Amber Hudson, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2 singles.

The Lady Titans advance to the second round and will host the winner of the Armuchee-Heard County matchup. Date and time next week TBA.

The North Oconee boys were not as fortunate Tuesday as GAC's doubles teams proved to be the strong point. The Spartans downed the Titans 3-2 to advance to the second round.

Senior Spencer Powell won the last match of his high school career, blanking his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Junior Seth Taylor won at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-1, and ended the year with a 14-3 record.

The 6th ranked Titans had a great season, going undefeated in the region and 13-5 overall en route to winning the last week over rival Jefferson.
