Nearly 500 Sweet Potatoes Harvested from Colham Ferry Elementary School Garden

The crop was planted in April.

By Emily Givens

Colham Ferry Elementary school harvested their inaugural sweet potato crop on Thursday Sept, 19, 2013.

A staggering 490 spuds in all shapes and sizes were joyfully unearthed. Perhaps digging on the date of the Full Harvest Moon upped the grand total!

At any rate, almost five months from initial April planting, students from Jill Bolding, Kelli Nash, Holly and Heidi Wolfe, Dr. Fran Taylor and Bekah McGee's classrooms all participated in the big dig.  Special thanks to parent volunteers Jackie Tripp, Nick Hobbs and Audra Chandler.
