Racetrac isn't the only new business taking root on Monroe Highway near Ga. Highway 316 in Oconee County.
Liquidation Center --which sells refurbished, reconditioned and scratch-and-dent appliances along with mattresses-- has moved into the building that formerly housed Lamar's Appliance & Furniture. It shares a shopping center with Cut-N-Style Beauty Salon and A J's Food Store.
Co-owner Yuri Miguel said he picked the location because of its close proximity to major highways and Athens. He also said Caterpillar's decision to build a manufacturing plant and distribution center a few miles away was "a plus."
The original G Liquidation Center is located in Lawrenceville, and both locations will work together to offer delivery, installation and service, Miguel explained. He said the business employs a team of certified service personnel and professional salesmen.
Liquidation Center had a soft opening on Sept. 15 and Miguel said plans are in the works for a grand opening celebration in about a month.
All scratch-and-dent appliances carry a one year warranty and refurbished ones include a 90-day warranty. Financing specials are currently being offered and rent-to-own options may be made available in the near future, he said.
Liquidation Center is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and will eventually be open seven days a week. Visit the business' Facebook Page for more information.
