Candidates Political Forum Scheduled for June 14

Evening to include meeting on T-Splost, candidate meet and greet and political forum.

The Oconee Chamber of Commerce is hosting a candidate's political forum at the North Oconee High School performing arts auditorium on Thursday, June 14. The forum is scheduled to run from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Local radio newsman Tim Bryant of WGAU-AM/WNGC-FM/WXKT-FM will be moderating. Bryant is a veteran facilitator and is expected to keep the discussions moving and lively by asking his own questions as well as audience submitted questions.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with an informational/educational meeting focusing on T-Splost. This portion of the evening will be hosted by Jim Dove of the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission. There will then be a meet and greet from 6:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. During this time candidates will be allowed to distribute political material and attendees will be submitting written questions.

The political forum will begin at 7 p.m. and follow the schedule listed below:

  • Tax Commissioner, 7 p.m.
  • State Representative, 7:10 p.m.
  • Sheriff, 7:30 p.m.
  • Board of Commissioners Post 1 and 4, 7:50 p.m.
  • School Board Chairman, 8:10 p.m.
  • County Commission Chairman, 8:30 p.m.
