Police Charge Watkinsville Woman in Fight with Neighbor

Police say the woman fled her home on June 27 after an argument with a neighbor and was jailed in Oconee County last week after appearing in an Athens court on unrelated charges.

Watkinsville police on July 17 charged Tonya Maria Fattig, 36, of North Main Street with simple battery.

Chief Lee O'Dillon said in a news release the arrest warrant alleges that on June 27 Fattig and a neighbor were involved in a heated argument when Fattig struck the 45-year-old woman causing obvious injuries. Fattig fled her North Main Street residence and had not returned home.

When she appeared for a court date on unrelated charges at the Athens-Clarke County Courthouse, Fattig was taken into custody by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office on a probation violation for an original charge of fleeing/attempting to elude.
