Watkinsville Police Charge Two With DUI Over Holiday Weekend

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville, Ga. police department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

In his weekly news release, Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O'Dillon noted the following incidents:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 7:19 a.m. a large deer ran into the path of a westbound 2004 Jeep Cherokee on Barnett Shoals Road near Stone Shoals. The 17-year-old driver was not injured but the SUV suffered heavy damage.
  • At 11:13 Saturday evening police clocked a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 traveling 72 miles per hour on Ga Highway 15. The officer stopped the driver of the pick-up  on Main Street. Jesus Emmanuel Perez, 22, of Milledgeville, was charged with DUI, speeding, driving while unlicensed.  After failing sobriety tests Perez was booked and later posted bond to Municipal Court.
  • Sunday at 1:42 a.m., police stopped a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu for traveling at a high rate of speed on Main Street.  The driver also failed sobriety tests. Lane Noble Raney, 25, of Greensboro, was charged with Speeding and DUI.  Raney was booked and later in the day was released after posting bond.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 32 calls within city limits between Nov. 19-25, 2012.
