Watkinsville Police Blotter: Three Cars Rear-Ended in Separate Accidents

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville Police Department.

In his weekly news release, Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending Nov. 20.

  • Hit and Run: At 3:15 Wednesday afternoon, a 2005 Honda Odyssey was stopped at the traffic signal on South Main Street at Georgia State Route 15 when a dark, older model car hit it from behind. The offending vehicle then sped away. The occupants of the Honda were not injured.
  • A 2008 Dodge Charger was stopped on Experiment Station Road at North Main Street at 4:09 p.m. Thursday when it was bumped from behind by a 2001 Mercury Cougar. No one was injured. A 20-year-old Athens woman was cited with following too closely.
  • One injury: Friday at 3:54 p.m., a 2010 Dodge Challenger slammed into the back of a 2009 Honda Accord on New High Shoals Road at Concord Drive. One person was slightly injured. The 16-year-old driver of the Dodge was charged with following too closely.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 28 calls within city limits between Monday, Nov.14 and Sunday, Nov. 20.
