Stock Stolen As Shop Closes

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville police department.

In his weekly news release, Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending June 19.

  • As the owner of Royal Foodmart Citco, located at 43 Greensboro Highway, was closing up the store and preparing to move out on June 17, he noticed stock items were missing.Β  The man told officers he suspects a former employee was the culprit since there were no signs of forced entry, O'Dillon said.
  • No one was injured in a two-car accident on Barnett Shoals Road at Industrial Boulevard around 9:30 a.m. on June 18. Vehicles sustained minor damage and one driver was cited with following too closely.
  • Officers investigated a two-car accident on Whitehall Road about 12:15 p.m. on June 13. Neither driver was injured but both vehicles were heavily damaged. One driver was cited with following too closely, O'Dillon reported.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 30 calls within city limits between Monday, June 13 and Sunday, June 19.
