Stolen Tools Used to Swipe Copper Tubing

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville police department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Two local men were arrested on June 4 on charges they stole tools that they then used to commit a second crime.

Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O'Dillon said tools were stolen from the bed of a pickup truck parked at the Luxury Inn on Saturday.

The tools were used to remove a section of copper tubing from an ice machine, he said.  When approached by a witness, two men fled behind the motel but were found by officers walking along New High Shoals Road a short time later, with the copper tubing and tools in hand, O'Dillon said in a news release.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 29 calls within city limits between Monday, May 30 and Sunday, June 5, O'Dillon said.
