Accident Near McNutt Creek Road Involving SUV and Empty School Bus Shut Down Highway 316 Tuesday Afternoon

An entrapped victim was lifeflighted to a hospital.

An Oconee County school bus with no children aboard was involved in a crash with injuries on Highway 316 near McNutt Creek Road just before noon Tuesday, the announced via Nixle.

According to a public information officer with the Georgia State Patrol, the Tahoe was westbound on 316 when the bus crossed the eastbound lanes from McNutt Creek and struck it in the driver's side.Β  Names of those involved in the crash were not immediately released.

Part of the of the highway was temporarily closed to accommodate a life flight helicopter. At least one victim was entrapped in a Chevy Tahoe. She is being transported to Atlanta medical center, according to Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry.

The driver of the school bus was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
