Oconee Sheriff's Office Crime Report

A highlight of incidents reported during the week of March 31- April 7.

The following information was gathered from Oconee County Jail booking reports and incident reports:

  • Deputies were called to investigate the theft of a trailer and mower valued at $23,000. The theft reportedly occurred at 1551 Whippoorwill Road between March 31 at 5 p.m. and April 2 at 10 a.m. Among items stolen were a 16 ft. black open trailer with a rear gate, a white and yellow Walker mower, a Bobcat mower, and a weed eater.Β Β  The trailer had been parked in the front yard, reports stated.
  • Tonya Ann Grooms, 36, was arrested and charged with deposit account fraud on March 31.
  • On April 1, Allen Fabian Chasteen, 24, of 1370 Garrett Road in Statham was arrested and charged with theft by taking.
  • Samual Jonathan Parker, 20, of 114 Alpino Way in Athens was arrested and charged with theft by shoplifting on April 1.
  • On April 1, Kailee Rose Peskins, 18, of 0241B Brumby Hall in Athens was arrested and charged with theft by shoplifting.Β 
  • 26-year-old Timothy Don Quarles of 1050 Timber Mill Run was charged with disorderly conduct on April 1.
  • Bernard Gordon Walsh, 64, of 30 Stanley Drive in Port Hope Ontario Canada was arrested and charged with public drunkenness on April 1.
  • After a man reportedly refused to pay for taxi service on April 3, deputies advised the business about warrant procedures for theft of services.
  • On April 4, Betty Ann Covington, 54, of 397 Sunset Drive Apt. 15 in Statham was arrested and charged with theft by shoplifting.
  • Juan Baltazar Garcia, 47, of 446 Hammond Drive in Statham was booked at the Oconee County Jail on a DUI charge on April 4.
