Oconee Connector at Highway 316 Shut Down By Accident With Injuries

In the nearby woods, Oconee County Sheriff's deputies are pursuing a white male suspect who fled the scene on foot --the driver of a stolen truck involved in the accident, authorities say.

UPDATES as news comes in:

4:45 p.m.: The Greene County Sheriff's Office confirmed, via social media, that the stolen truck was indeed the same one reported stolen from Greensboro last Sunday.

4:15 p.m.: The OCSO says the supect is now in their custody.

4:01 p.m.: Bray was last seen near 2500 Daniells Bridge Road.

3:53 p.m. Chief Weems sent out a Tweet on Twitter identifying the suspect as Kirk Bray.

3:37 p.m. The Greene County Sheriff's Office is assisting the OCSO.Β  The Georgia State Patrol was also at the scene of the accident.

2:48 p.m. The Oconee Connector is now open, authorities say.

2:21 p.m.: The releases a photo of the suspect.

1:56 p.m.: Updated description: White male approximately 5'9" in his 20s with a shaved head wearing a gray shirt and jeans.

1:48 p.m.: No deputies will be at school crossings this afternoon.Β  Weems said they are all tied up with the accident and pursuit.

1:35 p.m.: Suspect last seen behind Suites.

The Oconee Connector at Highway 316 has been shut down while deputies work the scene of an accident with injuries and chase a suspect who fled on foot, authorities reported.

The suspect is a white male with short hair and a black shirt, the only details Oconee County Chief Deputy Lee Weems was able to release in the immediate aftermath of the accident around 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Deputies and K-9 units are in the nearby woods pursuing the suspect who had been driving a stolen truck that crashed with another automobile, causing injuries, he said.
