Update: Highway 316 Suspect in Custody
Oconee County Sheriff's deputies helped Barrow law enforcement agencies find a suspect who ran off during a traffic stop near 316 and Barber Creek Road in Statham.

The suspect, Robert Lewis Mayweather Jr., is now in custody.

After a two-hour search, the suspect has not been apprehended and the sheriff's office believes he may have been picked up by another driver.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5-foot-11, 160 to 170 pounds, with dreadlocks mid-way to his back wearing jeans, an oversized white shirt and black shoes.

Sheriff Jud Smith said a deputy attempted to pull the suspect's vehicle over at Ga. Highway 316 and Ga. Highway 211 and when the vehicle stopped, the man fled. Law enforcement is tracking the suspect, identified as Robert Lewis Mayweather Jr., in the area of Barber Creek Road.
Smith said the suspect is wanted in connection with a burglary and may be in possession of a firearm that was stolen in Winder this morning. Deputies also found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the suspect's vehicle.
