Grease Fire Chars Section of Kitchen

An Oconee County man used a garden hose to extinguish the flames.

A resident of High Shoals Road sprang into action last Saturday when a grease fire lit up in his kitchen.

Oconee County Fire Chief Bruce Thaxton said the man used a garden hose to extinguish the flames before the fire department arrived.

Firefighters checked the kitchen for hot spots, but found none. Some cabinets and the wall behind the stove were charred.
