Fugitive Broke into Morgan County Church to Hide

Kaleb Jordan Moss did not resist arrest when he was found Tuesday night, the Athens Banner-Herald reports.

The 18-year-old Bethlehem man that eluded area law enforcement for nearly 30 hours this week was found hiding in a Morgan County church Tuesday night.

Kaleb Jordan Moss led Barrow County deputies on a high-speed chase into Oconee County Monday, crashed a stolen truck on Price Mill Road and fled into the woods near the Morgan County line.  Multiple agencies, K-9s and helicopters were involved in the search.

According to the Athens Banner-Herald, Morgan County deputies got a tip from Moss' girlfriend that he'd entered her house along Price Mill Road Tuesday while she was away.  After setting up a perimeter around that location, dogs eventually tracked Moss to Mount Perry Baptist Church, where he was taken into custody without incident around 9:30 p.m., the newspaper reports.

Moss faces a slew of charges in Morgan County, including aggravated battery in connection with the beating of an elderly man in June.  He is also charged with burglary, theft by receiving, fleeing and attempting to elude and several other traffic charges in Barrow County.
