Doors Kicked in, Items Stolen from Oconee County Homes

Burglars made off with electronics and prescription medication.

Investigators with the Oconee County Sheriff's Office are working on a pair of cases in which burglars forced their way into homes by kicking in doors.

A resident of the 1200 block of Hebron Road told deputies that sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 2, someone kicked in her front door and stole 20 Lortabs that that been prescribed to her husband.  It appeared there was also an attempt to kick in the back door, according to the incident report.

On the same day, deputies met with a N. Church Street resident who arrived home around 1:30 p.m. to find her back door had been kicked in.  She said she remembered having secured it when she left at 11:30 that morning. A flat screen television, jewelry box, a push mower and some medication was missing. The items are collectively valued at about $2,500.

Both cases are listed as active.
