Deputy Arrests Two After Wife Exits Moving Car

Two were arrested on October 8. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

An Oconee County Sheriff's Deputy arrested both a woman who jumped out of a moving car her husband was driving and the husband, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald.

The story says Lt. Griffin Attaberry was helping the Georgia State Patrol about 6 p.m. on October 8th investigate a wreck investigation at Wilson’s Garage on Old Bishop Road. He saw a GMC pickup slow and a woman get out while the pickup was still rolling.

The woman, Jennifer Renee Rahman, 38, fell, and the truck sped up. Rahman ran after the truck, according to the story.

Attaberry stopped the truck and handcuffed the driver, Gary Michael Dean, 34, of Greensboro Highway, the story says. Another deputy brought Rahman to the truck and she told authorities the two had been arguing over finances when she jumped out.

Dean was charged with driving while his license was suspended, the story says. Rahman was arrested on outstanding warrants from Fayette and Henry counties.
