Arrest Made in Case of Assault on Oconee Walmart Security Guard

A 24-year-old resident of Pinewood Estates South mobile home park has been charged with aggravated assault. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

A man authorities say was wanted for allegedly pulling a knife on a Walmart security guard Wednesday morning when he was confronted about shoplifting beer has been arrested.

According to the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, a narcotics investigator helped to identify the suspect. The investigator showed a photo array to the store's personnel who also identified the suspect, said Chief Deputy Lee Weems, and an arrest warrant was obtained based on those statements and other evidence.

Jeffery Michael Goswick, 24, of Pinewood Estates South mobile home park on Epps Bridge Road just across from Walmart was taken into custody at the park overnight and charged with aggravated assault, Weems said.
