Shotgun Stolen from Flat Rock Road Residence

Other recent crimes in Oconee County, Ga. include the theft of motorcycles, a burglarized barn, and shoplifting attempts. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

Shotgun Stolen: A woman returned to her home in the 1300 block of Flat Rock Road on Jan. 15 to find the carport door entrance to the home had been kicked in.  She called 911 and waited outside. Deputies arrived and cleared the residence.  The woman reported her father's shotgun was missing.  The burglary occurred sometime between 7 a.m. on Jan. 14 and 4 p.m. on Jan. 15.

Barn Burglarized: Someone entered a barn and a work van on a property in the 1600 block of Branch Road. Several items had been knocked to the ground and a cordless drill was missing.  The rear doors to the van were open and two corded drills, two manual hand saws, one wood handle ax and a logging chain were missing. The theft occurred sometime between 6 p.m. on Jan. 16 and 5 p.m. on Jan. 17.

Items Concealed:  Deputies were called to Walmart on Jan. 12 where store security had an accused shoplifter in custody. The guard told deputies he witnessed the woman concealing a magazine and two t-shirts, collectively valued at $27. Stephanie Ray Lemmonds, 36, of Bogart, was charged with theft by shoplifting.

Unauthorized Motor Bike Purchase: A Watkinsville man reported his wife recently received a letter from an auto loan company stating she had bought a motor bike from a dealership in Dacula and crashed it the same day.  The man said his wife never bought a motor bike nor crashed one.  Deputies filed an identity theft report and advised the couple to go to Dacula to file a fraud report.

Purse Snatched: A 2010 Dodge Nitro parked at Barber Creek Veterinary Hospital was entered sometime between 2 and 3 p.m. on Jan. 15.   It was parked and left unlocked with the keys in the ignition.  A purse containing $200 cash and a makeup bag full of cosmetics was taken.

Shoes and Shirt Taken: On Jan. 15, a man reported the theft of two shirts and a pair of shoes from a Flat Rock Road residence.  He last saw them at 11 p.m. on Jan. 12.

Shoplifting: Walmart store security on Jan. 17 reported having observed a man select several pieces of merchandise from a display and conceal the items, valued at $59. Phillip S. Dyess, 29, of Winder, was charged with misdemeanor theft by shoplifting.

Missing Motorcycles: Two off-road motorcycles were taken from a property on North Church Street sometime between 5 p.m. on Jan. 15 and 11 a.m. on Jan. 17.  They are worth $1,000.
