Car Collides with Tractor-Trailer in Oconee County

The accident early Wednesday closed one lane of Atlanta Highway in Bogart and sent a Barrow County woman to an area hospital for treatment.

The Georgia State Patrold reports a 57-year-old Statham woman was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center Wednesday morning for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries after her car collided with a tractor-trailer in Bogart.

Around 5:50 a.m. the woman, driving a Hyundai, attempted to make a left turn from Osceola Avenue onto Atlanta Highway and pulled into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer, according to an information officer with the GSP. The car was hit in its side.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office sent out an advisory through Nixle about 6:20 a.m., stating traffic had been reduced to one lane as a result of the accident.
