'Agency of the Year' Award Goes to Watkinsville Police Department

The award was presented at the Statewide Governor's Office Of Highway Safety meeting on Nov. 1.

The Watkinsville Police Department has been named the Piedmont Area Traffic Enforcement Network (PATEN) “Agency of the Year” for 2012. The award, given by the Governor's Office Of Highway Safety,  is based on safety enforcement, participation in the PATEN activities, and reporting statistics to the State.

A certificate was presented at the Statewide Governor's Office Of Highway Safety meeting in Gainesville at the Georgia Mountain Center on Nov. 1. Watkinsville Mayor Charles Ivie congratulated the department on its achievement at a council meeting this week.

The Piedmont Area Traffic Enforcement Network is comprised of Barrow, Elbert, Lincoln, Wilkes, Taliferro, Oglethorpe, Oconee, Clarke, and Madison counties.
