At least two people were injured in an accident involving a tractor trailer, concrete truck, and an SUV that closed a section of U.S. 441 in Oconee County Wednesday morning, authorities reported.

It appears the accident was caused by a mechanical failure when the left front tire came off of a 2005 Freightliner heading southbound, said Lt. Paul Cosper, public information spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol. The trailer sideswiped a Mack 600 truck carrying concrete headed northbound and also struck a Buick Enclave, he said.

The driver of the SUV, a Madison woman, complained of injuries, and a Warner Robins man driving the concrete truck was ejected but neither were seriously injured, Cosper said.

U.S. 441 South of Tappan Spur Road and the Morgan County line was closed for several hours while first responders cleared the roadway. A Nixle message sent by the just after 10:30 a.m. warned motorists about the traffic advisory.
