About 14 Pounds of Marijuana Found In Luggage During Oconee Traffic Stop
An Athens man is charged with trafficking.
Authorities say around fourteen pounds of marijuana were found during a traffic stop in Oconee County on Tuesday afternoon.
A deputy spotted a Chevrolet Lumina traveling east on US 78 near its intersection with SR 53 and checked its tag after noticing its excessive window tint, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.
A canine searched the vehicle after a search warrant was obtained, honing in on the trunk and a piece of luggage containing the marijuana, the news release noted.

Justin Cornish, 28, of Woodlake Drive in Athens was charged with marijuana trafficking and canceled registration. He was being held at the Oconee County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
