Oconee Today ~ March 26

Everything you need to know to start your day!

Weather: According to the National Weather Service,  it’s all about sunny skies today with a  high of 82! This continues a weather pattern of beautiful Springtime weather with little or no chance of rain until at least Wednesday. Pollen counts will remain in the “high” category.

  • Though many school systems have a short week this week, Oconee County's schools will have a full week and enjoy the more beautiful weather during the week of April 9-13th!
  • And just in case you need a little bit of extra help getting through this week, Homework Helpers at East Athens Community Center at 3:30 p.m. is a free tutoring service hosted by the ACC Leisure Service Department. For children ages 7-18. For more information call 706-613-3593 or read more online.
  • Writers can spend some time honing their skills and learning from fellow writers opportunities today!  The Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation Writers Group meets at 1:30 each Monday/
  • There’s still time win tickets to Mel Brooks’ musical version of "Young Frankenstein" from Oconee Patch. We're giving away a pair of tickets to the opening night of "Young Frankenstein" at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre . To qualify for the drawing, you must get your comment posted by 11:59 a.m. Wednesday, March 28.
  • Today is “Make Your Own Holiday Day”  - You can make today a special day for anything you want; the objective is to allow one day for any topic or event that has otherwise escaped recognition ... up until today. We are advised to skip all of the red tape, bypass all of the effort, and create a special day of any kind. We’re looking for ways to make this day truly special … Any ideas?
