The tribute took place in downtown Watkinsville.

To honor the heroes and pay tribute to the victims and families of 9/11,Β  Oconee County 4-H members lit luminaries Wednesday that lined the streets of downtown Watkinsville.

This was the third year 4-H members lit the luminaries on September 11, said Joey Bristol of the Oconee County Extension.Β  They started in 2011 to commemorate the 10th anniversary.

At 9:11 p.m., a moment of silence was observed in front of the courthouse flag.
