Resurgence Park Rezone On Tuesday Agenda Of Oconee County Board of Commissioners

Williams and Associates Land Planners is asking the Oconee County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday night to modify zoning conditions on three parcels of land in the northeast corner of SR 316 and the Oconee Connector for a medical office building, a hotel, and an office park with an assisted living facility.

The Northeast Georgia Regional Commission found the project to be in the best interest of the region and state, though it did express concerns about encroachment on wetlands on the site, excessive surface parking and less-than-ideal pedestrian access.

The county planning staff recommended approval of the projects, and the Planning Commission voted unanimously on June 15 to send the projects forward to the Commissioners with a positive recommendation
.
County Utility Department Director Chris Thomas said Williams and Associated had presented data on sewage flow from the site that addressed his concerns about the ability of an existing pump station on Mars Hill Road at Barber Creek to handle the sewage the project will generate.

This is a summary. For more details of the story, including an aerial map showing the location of the three parcels and of the overall project, go to Oconee County Observations.
