Rep. Quick Has Draft Legislation In Hand To Change Two Oconee County And Athens-Clarke County House Districts

Rep. Regina Quick of the 117th House District has received from Legislative Counsel draft legislation that would return Oconee County to a single district in the Georgia House of Representatives.

:Rep. Regina Quick of the 117th House District has received from the House Legislative Counsel draft legislation that would return Oconee County to a single district in the Georgia House of Representatives.

Quick told me on Thursday that she has shared the legislation with Rep. Chuck Williams, who currently represents the majority of Oconee County in the 119th House District.

Quick said that she and Williams plan to meet, this week if possible, with Rep. Randy Nix, chair of the House Committee on Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment, to discuss the legislation.

The draft legislation, which Quick shared with me yesterday, makes only minor changes in the overall composition of the 117th and the 119th districts.

In Oconee County, the precincts of Athens Academy, Bogart and Malcom Bridge would be moved from the 117th District to the 119th District, in which the remainder of the county currently falls.

An Athens-Clarke precinct and part of a second precinct would be moved from the 119th to the 117th. A third Athens-Clarke precinct, currently split, would continue to be divided, but the internal line would be redrawn.
