Oconee County Takes First Step In Effort to Turn Off Water and Sewer to Mobile Home Park
Oconee County Utility Department Director Chris Thomas said he is a bit concerned about a "show cause" hearing he is scheduled to conduct in his office because of limited space and high interest.
Oconee County Utility Department Director Chris Thomas said he is a bit concerned about he is scheduled to conduct at 10 a.m. today in his office in the Government Annex on Greensboro Road in Watkinsville.
“There is a lot of interest in this,” he told me yesterday. He reminded me that his office isn’t very large.
The county distributed a press release on Friday saying on Jan. 13, 2012, because the owners have refused to pay for the services. The press release says the owners owe the county more than $150,000.
Local media have given a lot of attention to the story, and there is evidence at least some in the public are interested as well.
The legal action the county has taken hasn't gotten much attention.
At issue are agreements the county has made over the years to provide water and sewer service to the mobile home park.
