Hundreds Rally at the Georgia Capitol for Gun Rights - Cascade Patch

Gun rights advocates continue to fight in Georgia for what they say is their Constitutional guarantee.

Gun rights leaders spoke to the crowds at the Georgia Capitol Friday about potential legislation limiting the amount of rounds a magazine can hold and where guns can be concealed and carried.

A few lawmakers could be seen on the Capitol steps overlooking the crowds that formed, and Capitol police had a good eye on the crowd as well and sported new assault style rifles.

Last year, while waiting for his wife and son to return from their trek up Stone Mountain, Michael Mills noticed something on the faces of the people who had finished the journey.

"Every time I saw people come down they had a smile on their face," Mills recalled.

Mills, a father of three and an athlete who was paralyzed from the waist down after a car accident in 1993, decided he would not only challenge himself by doing the climb -- which he plans to do this Saturday -- but raise money for the charity Bert's Big Adventure as well. He said he'll be the first paralyzed person to climb Stone Mountain.

Thieves Again Target Buckhead Homes for Silver - Buckhead Patch

Buckhead residents have received warnings this week from the Atlanta Police Department about local thieves targeting their neighborhoods for valuable silver found in their homes.

There have been at least four silver burglaries during the month of January in Buckhead, and one of them even being just seconds from the Governor's Mansion.

Couple Uses Boy to Shoplift Merchandise - Cartersville Patch

Bartow County authorities say a local pair used a boy to try to shoplift nearly $250 in merchandise, then fled on foot when the juvenile was caught.

A Walmart asset protection worker reported the alleged theft shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday, after stopping the boy outside the store with a cart full of items for which he had not paid, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report
