Oconee Today - Sept. 3

The Oconee County Farmers Market, 5K run and pottery demonstrations are some of the things to know about in Oconee County Today.

Weather: Partly sunny with a 20 percent chance of showers this afternoon. High temperatures in the mid 90s. Expect partly cloudy skies with a 10 percent chance of fain overnight. Low temperatures in the high 60s, according to the National Weather Service.

 

  • The Market runs today from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the back lawn of the Eagle Tavern in Watkinsville.
  • , 1900 Robinhood Road in Watkinsville, will host the 4th annual "" 5K run/walk and lap of love fun run today starting at 8 a.m. All participants must register by 6:30 a.m. Fees to register are $20 per individual and $50 for families. Entry fees for the fun run are $10. Proceeds from the event will benefit special needs children through Butterfly Dreams Farms.
  • The University of Georgia Army ROTC will host the 5th annual "Joshua Reeves Run/Walk to Remember" at 8:30 am. today at 110 Field Avenue, Sanford Stadium in Athens. Reeves was a Watkinsville resident and corporal in the United States Army, who was killed in action Sept. 22, 2007 following the birth of his son, Jackson Reeves. Proceeds from the run will benefit the Joshua Reeves Foundation.
  • Participating potters at the 2011 Perspectives: Georgia Potter Invitational at the Oconee County Cultural Arts Foundation will demonstrate wheel throwing and hand building techniques. Ted Saupé will demonstrate techniques on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Rocket Hall Courtyard, 34 School Street in Watkinsville.
