Weather: The Weather Channel is predicting a high near 81 and a 10 percent chance of rain today. Plan on a mix of sunshine and clouds throughout the day.

Top Things to Know:

  • Watkinsville First Baptist Church will host a "Lost Boys of Paradise" tonight at 7 p.m.
  • The Athens YMCA is offering a new class for special needs children and their parents. This music therapy class will be offered on Thursdays, Aug. 23 to Oct. 11, 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. The cost to participate is $100 per session and registration is open at the YMCA located on Hawthrone Avenue. Contact 706-543-6596 for more information.
  • The Oconee County Library will host a "Book Tasting Party" on Thursday, Sept. 13 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Children ages 5 to 11 will enjoy treats while checking out new books.
  • The Oconee County Library is accepting gently-used Halloween costumes for a costume swap scheduled for later in October. Community members are encouraged to drop their items off at the library.
