Oconee Today -- Nov. 7

A Christmas lights recycling opportunity and a meeting of the Oconee County Board of Education are a few of the things to know about in Oconee today.

Weather: Slightly warmer temperatures are in the forecast as the work week gets underway.  The high is expected to hit 70 degrees.  The National Weather Service predicts plenty of sunshine.

Top things to know:

  • is offering coupons for customers who want to recycle old working or non-working Christmas lights and wish to purchase more energy efficient LED lights.  Now through Nov. 13, each customer can redeem up to five sets of old lights for coupons worth up to $5.  .
  • The City of Bogart council meets tonight at 7 p.m.  It is Bogart's regular monthly meeting.
  • At a work session of the Oconee County Board of Education, Superintendent John Jackson will give report about feedback the district has received about the proposed 2012-13 school calendar. See the full agenda. The meeting is set for 5 p.m. in the Central Office Meeting Room on School Street.
