Oconee Today -- March 8

Happy Mardi Gras! There is a special event for teens to celebrate Fat Tuesday this evening in Oconee. See what else you should know today.

1.  Mostly cloudy skies are predicted for today, with high temperatures in the low 60s once again.  The next chance of rain and thunderstorms in Oconee County will be on Wednesday, according to Weather Underground.

2. Happy Mardi Gras!  The hosts a special celebration for teens tonight from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Festivities will include mask making and feasting on a traditional King Cake.  The event is free and open to kids between 11- years-old and 17-years-old.

3.  The American Red Cross sponsors a blood drive today in the ground floor lounge of the School of Law at the University of Georgia.  Donations will be collected from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

4. Spring sports are now well underway!  There are many local baseball, soccer, tennis, and golf games scheduled for this afternoon.  Take a peek at our to check times and locations. 

5. There will be a meeting of the Oconee County Land Use Committee at 7 p.m. at the Community Center in the .
