Oconee Today -- July 2

The holiday weekend gets off to a great start with a variety of area events.

1. It'll be a sunny and hot Saturday in Oconee County, according to the Weather Chanel's forecast.Β  High temperatures will be in the mid 90s and overnight lows will drop into the low 70s.

2. Find all the fixings you need for a Fourth of July picnic at Oconee Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the back lawn of Eagle Tavern. Come early for the best pick of ripe slicing tomatoes and sweet cherry tomatoes.Β  Vendors will have , bakery items, and homemade crafts and many other products for sale.

3. Korean War veterans are serving as grand marshals in the City of Colbert's at 9 a.m. The 42nd annual event includes games, live musical entertainment and picnic foods.

4. The City of Auburn is hosting a two-day complete with a fireworks display on Sunday evening.Β  Today's festivities get underway at noon and last until 11 p.m.

5. Ashford Manor's Concert on the Lawn series continues with an appearance from the King. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the Elvis Tribute band hits the stage at 7 p.m. For ticket information and more details, see the .
