New Oconee School Board Chair, Member to Take Oaths of Office

The swearing-in ceremony is the first item on tonight's agenda.

The first official business of 2013 for the Oconee County Board of Education will be to welcome a new chairman and board member.

Tom Odom and Mike Burnette will be administered the oath of office right before tonight's work session gets underway. Wayne Bagley, who was unopposed in his bid to stay on the board, will also be sworn in by Judge David Anglin.

C. New BOE Member Compensation-- The board voted 6/11/12 to forego compensation for FY13. (Mr. Bagley was absent from that meeting and agreed to the decision at the 6/25/12 special session.) The two new board members, Mike Burnette and Tom Odom, need to voice their agreement with this action and sign the necessary paperwork.

No vote will be taken. The superintendent will ask the two new members individually if they agree to participate with the rest of the board members in foregoing compensation for FY13.
