New Movie Theater in Oconee County Names Its Restaurant through Facebook Contest

A Winterville resident submitted the winning name.

A Winterville resident has had the honor of naming the restaurant that will be housed inside University 16 Cinemas. 

The held a contest through Facebook asking for suggestions for its on-site restaurant. From the more than 150 entries, five finalists were selected and Facebook users were then invited to vote for their favorite.

The submission that received the most votes came from Winterville resident Chris Wages, 39, who coined the name Outtakes. As the contest winner, Wages will receive a private movie screening for 25 people, along with free popcorn and beverages.

As part of its grand opening celebration, University 16 Cinemas is offering for a limited time free popcorn vouchers to anyone who uses Twitter, Facebook or Instagram to spread the word about the new complex. To receive a free voucher, simply show your tweet, post or Instagram image to a manager at the information desk in the University 16 Cinemas lobby from Friday, June 14, to Thursday, June 27. The vouchers expire Wednesday, July 3.

Additionally, there will be more than 150 Coca-Cola prize packs featuring Coca-Cola branded merchandise and other goodies, including two 20-inch youth bicycles, that will be given away during the grand opening week of Friday, June 14, to Thursday, June 20. Customers can enter once daily for a chance to win one of the prize packs at the theater.
