Stripling's General Store to Open Oconee County Location
The owners hope to open at the 78/53 intersection as early as September.
Grading is to begin this week at the corner of US Highway 78 and Georgia 53 for a franchise store of the very popular Stripling's General Store, according to a story in OnlineAthens. The Banner-Herald reports that the store will be owned and operated by Jimmy Camp and his children.
Camp, a Walton County resident, has been working on the deal for about 18 months, but says he has been a customer of Striplings for years.
Stripling’s General Store is well known for its meats and specialty items. Currently, there are two Striplings in Cordele along Lake Blakeshear in South Georgia.

The Oconee site was chosen based on its central location from Athens, Watkinsville, Winder, and Monroe, according to the Banner-Herald.
