Oconee SpeedFit is different from a typical gym, Stewart said, because, though there are weights, training programs place a greater emphasis on open space and movement.

"You're not going to come in and see elliptical machines and treadmills; we like to use a lot of open space and different types of exercises," he said.  "It keeps things changing on a regular basis.  Each day is a new workout and you won't get bored."

Oconee SpeedFit offers programs tailored to different age groups. Five daily SpeedFit classes geared toward adults include "a combination of high-intensity training and strength and conditioning," according to the gym's website. The Revelation Fitness program is designed for beginners and participants over 40. And for youth ages 12-18,  sports-specific training programs are available.

"They come in, we see which sport they want to play and [the trainers] sit down and develop a program for them," Stewart explained.  "And it's one where they can come once a week, twice a week or everyday."

In addition to leading workouts, the gym's trainers offer guidance about healthy eating habits.
