Here is our pick of activities going on in or around Oconee County this weekend.

Where/When: in Watkinsville Post on Thursday, Friday and  Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. 

Why Go: Miller’s reports a particularly good crop this year and picking is a fun activity for family and friends.

Where/When: Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.

Why Go: To see the work of three talented artists: Robin Fay (mixed media paintings), Sarah Hubbard (quilts) and Rene Shoemaker (fabric paintings).

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Three outdoor stages and various club venues in downtown Athens on starting at 5 p.m. Friday, 12 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 p.m. Sunday and running until closing time each evening.

Why Go: To experience the15th annual AthFest, a showcase for local, regional and nationally recognized Athens-based talent, that includes live music, a juried artisan market, film events, a comedy showcase, Flagpole Music Awards, Wired Dance Festival and more.

Pricing: Free $15 for AthFest wristband in advance; $20 at the festival; many events are free

Where/When: UGA Trial Gardens on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: To attend an open house that will feature guided tours with Dr. Allan Armitage, a plant sale, Heirloom Tomato tasting and a book signing at the renowned UGA Trial Gardens.

Pricing: $5 suggested donation

Where/When: Intersection of Washington and Lumpkin Streets on Saturday from 12 to 5:30 p.m and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6:10 p.m.

Why Go: To be a part of AthFest’s activities for children--music, a parade, a Rock Star photo booth, crafts, carnival games, spider jump, beanbag/ring toss, water gun fun and more.

Pricing: Most activities are free; some require small fees or have suggested donations
