Here's our pick of activities going on in or around Oconee County this weekend.

Where/When: Gwinnett County Fairgrounds on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: To see demonstrations of dancing, drumming and storytelling and presentations about the history and language of the Native American culture that are attuned to the audience's ages.

Pricing: $7 ages 13 and up; $4 ages 5 to 12; free ages 4 and under

Where/When: Melting Point in Athens on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: To see these skilled and popular musicians who have developed a style of jazzy, exuberant, energetic soul that has won them a devoted and dance-loving group of fans.

Pricing: $10 in advance; $13 at the door

Where/When: Start line at the Classic Center in Athens on Monday at 8 a.m.

Why Go: To walk or run the course which includes many of the bulldog statues in downtown Athens and support the Athens-Oconee Junior Woman’s Club work in the public schools in Athens-Clarke and Oconee counties.

Pricing: $20 per person; $45 for families

4. MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION AT MEMORIAL PARK

Where/When: Memorial Park in Athens on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m

Why Go: To celebrate Memorial Day at this family-friendly event that includes concessions, face painting, music, games and more.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: on Monday from 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: To dance Memorial Day night away listening to this Motown-infused act sure to be singing your favorite seventies R & B hits.

Pricing: $15 adults; $12 students (with ID), $5 children under 12; free children under 6; season tables also available.
