Here is our pick of activities going on in or around Oconee County this weekend.

1.

Where/When: Downtown Watkinsville on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: To celebrate downtown and gear up for the Tour d’Oconee by watching the Oconee County Cycling Organization’s demonstrations about bike safety, learning fun facts about cycling and cheering for riders in a kid-friendly bike race.

Where/When: Seney-Stovall Chapel on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Why Go: To watch the acclaimed Rose of Athens Theatre brings Alice, the White Rabbit, Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum, the Cheshire Cat and the rest of Lewis Carroll’s wonderful cast of characters to life in this adaption of his classic tale.

Pricing: $15 for adults; $10 for ages 25 years and under and students

Where/When: Classic Center Grand Hall on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: To hear the Athens Symphony Pops Concerts, beloved by one and all, perform the Pas de Six from “William Tell,” selections from “West Side Story” and more.

Where/When: Start line at 200 2nd Street in downtown Watkinsville on Saturday at 8 a.m.

Why Go: To ride in or watch the First Tour d’Oconee bike race as hundreds of cyclists descend upon Watkinsville to "Tame the Lion" of Oconee.

Pricing: $45 to race; free to cheer

Where/When: Disc Golf Course on Saturday with play beginning at 10;30 a.m. 

Why Go: To compete in the Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department’s fourth annual disc golf tournament for fun and for prizes. 

Pricing: $20 juniors, amateurs and open PRO; $1 CTP entry fee, $2 ACE entry fee.
