President Obama proclaimed March 2 National Read Across America Day.  If you need help choosing a good book to read in celebration this week, consider favorites for you and your children.

1)  Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns:  set in fictional rural Georgia;  a step back in time; explores themes such as religion, death, and social taboos; has a follow-up novel called Leaving Cold Sassy, a hilarious read!

2) Sister Fidelma Mysteries by Peter  Tremayne:    this series has its own fan club,  set in 670A.D. and in ancient Ireland, interesting insights into women's rights and place in society from that era,  riveting mysteries,  over 20 books in the series...enough to keep you entertained for quite a while!
