Early voting begins today. See what else there is to know about in and around Oconee County.

Weather: Partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 70s are in today's Weather Channel forecast. There's a 20 percent chance of rain.  Expect wind gusts up to 25 mph.

Top things to know:

  • Early voting starts today. Stop by the Board of Elections and Registration Office (10 Court St. in Watkinsville) Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. through Nov. 2.  Watkinsville voters may also cast a ballot during early voting for the city election at City Hall.
  • Several local businesses have teamed up for "B Positive! You're someone's type - Blood Drive and Paint Session."  Stop by from 1-6 p.m. at Fox’s Pizza Den, located in The Village at Franklin Grove on US Highway 78.
  • Parents of students with disabilities are invited to the free workshop "Peace, Love, Harmony - and the IEP!" at North Oconee High School from 6-8 p.m. Learn more.
  • The Good Ole Girls Outreach - a free networking group for women -- holds a get together at Chops and Hops from 5:30- 7 p.m. Learn more about the GOGOs from blogger Becky Finney.
  • It's Spirit Night at Zaxby's.  A percentage of sales this evening will be donated to Rocky Branch Elementary School.
