Oconee Today -- March 14

A called government meeting and a fundraiser for RememberTheOne.org. are a few of the happenings in and around Oconee today.

1. The work week begins with a slight chance of showers early in the day and the possibility of thunderstorms after 2 p.m.  High temperatures will be in the mid 70s, according to the Weather Service.

2. The will convene at noon for a called meeting.  There is only one item on the agenda, and that is to "consider use of Heritage Park by University of Georgia Forestry School on March 18, 2011 for Timbersports Competition Including Filming and Distribution of Parking Revenue."

3. Help with tax form preparation is available for free at every Monday from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.  Members of the AARP will assist on a first come, first served basis.  Assistance is open to adults of all ages.

4. On the sports , the baseball team hosts Lanier High School at 5:55 p.m.

5. on Epps Bridge Parkway celebrates Pi Day today with a celebrity 30" Big One Challenge fundraiser starting at 7 p.m.  A portion of the day's proceeds will also be donated to RememberTheOne.org.  Also, purchase 12" medium one-topping pizzas for only $3.14 as part of an awareness of Math department's Pi program, according to an
