Oconee Today - June 5

The UN deems June 5 as World Environment Day. This and more facts as well as what you don't want to miss in or near Oconee on June 5.

Weather: The Weather Channel is calling for early showers today with a partly cloudy afternoon. Rain chances are around 50 percent and should clear out around 1 p.m. Temperatures should reach a high of 83 degrees late in the afternoon.

Observances: According to the United Nations World Environment Day activities take place daily but climax on June 5 annually. The June 5 celebration began in 1972 and is now one of the primary ways the UN fosters worldwide awareness of the environment while encouraging political attention and action.
