Oconee Today -- Dec. 3

Children of all ages are invited to a free holiday puppet show at the Oconee County Library.

Weather: Patches of fog are possible before 9 a.m. According to the National Weather Service, there will be sunny skies to kick off the work week with a high of around 72 degrees.

Top things to know:

  • The annual Can-a-thon food drive continues at Oconee County Schools.  Please donate non-perishable this week which will be taken to ACTS Food Bank.
  • The Oconee County Library offers the All Hands Productions’ show, “Santa’s Missing Mail” for children of all ages at 7 p.m.  Come meet some panicked elves, a wise-cracking reindeer, a dim-witted superhero, and Santa Claus!  Library programs are free and open to the public.  For more information, call 706-769-3950 or visit the Oconee County Library Children’s Section on Facebook.
  • Visit with Santa at the Georgia Square Mall!  He's there Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 a.m. (see scheduled break times) and Sundays from 12-6 p.m. Photo packages are available.
  • Children in grades K-5 are invited to enter the Give Wildlife a Chance Poster Contest, sponsored by the State Botanical Garden of Georgia and the Nongame Conservation Section of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Entries must be received by March 27, 2013.  See details.
  • The Oconee County Board of Education holds a work session at 5 p.m.   Click here to view the agenda.
